Fossil
Fosil : فسیل (فیلم ۱۳۹۹) : "Fossil" is an Iranian comedy-drama film directed by Karim Amini, written by Hamzeh Salehi, and produced by Seyed Ebrahim Amerian, released in 2020. The film stars Behram Afshari, Hadi Kazemi, Iman Safa, and Elaheh Habibi and narrates the story of three friends who are members of a music group called Black Dogs, striving for fame before the Iranian revolution.
The story follows Esmaeil (played by Behram Afshari), known as Esi, Saeed (played by Hadi Kazemi), and Safa (played by Iman Safa) as they aim for stardom and recognition. Esmaeil dreams of performing in front of the Shah, whereas Safa, who leans towards leftist ideologies, tries to gain popularity through protest songs but ends up in prison.
A turning point occurs when Esmaeil, on his way to perform at the royal palace, is involved in an accident and falls into a coma. He wakes up 10 years later to a dramatically changed Iran, where the monarchy has been replaced by the Islamic Republic.
"Fossil" has made a significant impact in Iranian cinemas, becoming the highest-grossing film in the history of Iranian cinema with earnings exceeding 322 billion Tomans. Additionally, with over 7,444,000 viewers, it became the most-watched film in Iranian cinema history in its first year of release, marking a significant achievement in the Iranian film industry.
